I would think it was the weather - the windy conditions on Saturday made lure fishing difficult - if it had stayed calm I reckon a lot more bass would have been caught.

Also I am beginning to think that a certain East Cork mark that I have been fishing recently fishes best on weaker tides. I had not been very successful there close to Full or New Moon tides but have done much better between those tides

is that certain east cork mark near or on an estuary frank, have had lots of success between the moons on an estuary mark as long as its been dry. As for west waterford certain marks are fishing very well where as early season marks that fished well are not producing near as much fish. probably just down to local conditions

seanie, we fished the tressels late friday afternoon i got 7 lost 2 and missed 1,had 2x7lb there sat., about 60+ in last 5 days, some of the better 1s.9,8,8,8,7,7,7,6lb., and few around 4/5,
all in all a bit hit and miss, a bit patchy,

"ruler" hooked a fish 10 yards out on his very first cast today, over tightened the drag and the rod was "whipped" out of his hand , into a tide race, 10 mins later i snagged the rod 50 yards downstream and after clearing some weed of the reel/rod found the fish was still there , about 8/9lb. 5 mins later he snapped the rod on another 1

in relation to predictable bass fishing .the table s art . has posted are spot on .cannot argue with that. rockhunter makes an interesting post about particular marks fishing well when according to arts lunar graph these are shite days.my own experience is that there is 2 marks in the whole dungarvan bay that will still fish on these days and they are always fish of 5or 6 ibs plus[bigger fish].the fish only seem to run these marks on such days .possibly the fish who did not get enough feeding to satisfy their apatite while they were more active on the new or full moon feeding days.if you fish these marks on the good days according to the cycle ,they don t fish well!!!my own belief is that the bait fish and crustations are made active by the moon phases and this in turn turns the bass on . all nature works in such cycles and why should the bass be any different.the vast bass population go into sleep mode after the feeding on the good days and do not come into the regular marks.they stay in deeper water channals and in the outer reach s of the respective bays.but again the poor boys who didnt get enough grub come back for seconds.like in the charles duckens novel.art will often say that you will catch a big lone predator on the poor moon phase days.why? well because he s a fat f"""ker and he always wants seconds.like catching the bigger bass on the low tides.

recon this could be a very good weekend, conditions look perfect all round, theres been a plenty of dubbles taken locally and elsewere, with this being 1 of the best months, i think there will be some excellent catces!! .

..fishin, , his mate "ross" had a fish of 11lb. on his last cast on last morning..

IMO, , THE FIRST 8/10 DAYS OF OCT. SHOUD BE VERY GOOD FOR LURE FISHIN.

we had 25 on the 17th. from 6/7pm,(both s.s. and m.s. 6.45is) we had over 50 hits on poppers. we fished s.t./m.t. from 11.30/13.30 and had 7.
Rockhunter also had his best ever sess. with 12 bass in the afternoon.

Hi all, and in particular Cortaz.

I've recently moved outside Dungarvan after too long in a landlocked county, and I'm getting back into bass fishing after a hiatus of a few years. I've tried a few of the marks locally, with some success (8 pounder in Ardmore a few weeks back) but I've blanked a fair bit too. So, after looking at this thread in the way of research, I'm willing to give Cortaz's theory a go.

Cortaz: I'm planning a trip for next Sunday the 31st. If I understand your theory right, that should be a good day because of the approaching fill moon on the 2nd of November? Or maybe I've picked it up arseways ... I'll be having a few lads along with me, so it'd be great if our back-breaking efforts at digging lug and making excuses to the wives were rewarded with a few fish ...

It'd be great if you could let me know.
