1, it,s not a shortage of food

don't know if this helps or puzzles you more but the bass i kept on the 29th had
absolute zero/nothing in its stomach!! not even digested food (crap/waste!!)
caught 2 hrs after high tide by the way!
checked it thoroughly as i gutted it just to see what they are feeding on!
as for all the others i caught this year i c&r so can't say!
cleanest fish i ever gutted! :?: :idea: :!:
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse,smooth hound.

Got word back this morning its being looked at - the MI head man Dr Peter Heffernan used to be a neighbour of mine in Dublin.... :) I'll post it soon as I hear back.

I was out on the night of full moon (4th September) at a well known Cork bass spot and didn't catch any bass, 3 other people fishing there also, as far as I could see 2 bass were caught all night. Strangely, at the same mark I got 3 bass on the previous full moon in similar weather conditions :\

Looks like we're in for a few days settled warm weather this week, good for the bass hopefully:

no honestly, very nice indeed, congratulations, surely the fine spell of weather entices the bass to feed properly and they make up now for the past weeks where they couldn't find enough food with murky water and weedy conditions everywhere, just hope the good weather will continue after the moon changes :roll: but for now make the best out of it as long as the conditions are favourable, tight lines lads :!: :) 8)

thats super fishin 8) , any big fellas?, got a few myself for the dawn, just before sunrise it was a fish a cast,on a med. white x rap,. feed shallow after it got bright.

I wonder if it has less to do with the fish and more to do with angling conditions? - the biggest tide seems to throw up the most weed and crap into the water - making fishing much more difficult , how much is that a factor i wonder?

Well the 5th wasn't up to scratch, spent 3 hours on the oyster beds for low tide and there wasn't a fish to be seen, not even a mullet.

same for me on the fourth just the 1 fish in 3 hours..........., its been fairly poor the last few times does this happen every year at this stage or is it just conditions :shock: 8)
