Re: MACKEREL REPORTS SHORE 2018
Nothing worse than A pier full of gobshites ruining the fishing ,I remember being out on skerries pier ,it just got more and more packed and ridiculous ,the final straw for me was some muppet with a huge floppy Lidl telescopic rod complete with 12 feathers and a huge pirk on the end I can only imagine the mayhem he caused

Re: MACKEREL REPORTS SHORE 2018
HaHaHa this is one of the reasons why local harbours are banning fishing on their harbour's it is the same in howth/Greystones/Wicklow. A good idea might be to bring in some sort of payment to fish there like a parking ticket and if you do not have one could get fined like having to pay a fee or your fishing equipment taken from you until it is paid .Works on the continent like Spain/Portugal and other places. Oh did that guy with the Lidl Special get anything.

Re: MACKEREL REPORTS SHORE 2018
They’re a nightmare every year. You can’t go near a harbour wall at high water without being shocked by the bad behaviour. I avoid them at all costs. Anyway, there’s a few being caught at poolbeg, but many of them are very small. Perfect if you want some joeys for bait, but pan sized fish are still scarce.

Ballyheigue fishing very well. 30 fish in little over 10 minutes. All fish were of very good size. Certainly the biggest shore-caught fish I've had in the past couple of years. Also good some small haddock and one small Pollack. All were taken on silver colours. Caught 10 feet or off rock mark. Every mackerel was literally stuffed with sand eel.

Yeah def. I was surprised as well. They were very small, smaller than the mackerel. 3 fins on back, pasty silver/cream in colour.corbyeire wrote:definetly a haddock - usually in much deeper water?

some big ones being caught off Wicklow at the moment. plenty around but still not fully in. the seals are causing a bit of hassle as a lot of people losing their traces when they get on, the seal take it!

And don't forget the thumbprint beneath the dorsal fin - the definitive identification mark.fishantics wrote:Yeah def. I was surprised as well. Re: MACKEREL REPORTS SHORE 2018
Had a dozen of them in Dun Laoghaire today, all pan sized. The seal had another 4 off my line, specialised in hit and run tactics, he’s nicked fish from every bloke on the pier and would give me dirty looks every time I managed to outrun him
