fishing cork harbour in an inflatable

Well blackest, i was out on lough sheelin last summer in my boat when i met a polish man with his daughter in one of these inflatables, it was dead calm and they were very close to the shore. He went to reach for something but lost his balance and sent the girl flying out, he tryed to grab her but ended up falling in himself, i drove over and pulled the two of them in. I brought the inflatable home and let my daughter use it as a paddling pool. I was a commercial fisherman for more than ten years and i often went out in dead calm weather and then struggled to get to the shore only a couple of hours later. If you really want to get out fishing in a boat look around you,ll pick up a safe little boat for very little money. I,v just sold a 17 ft fiberglass lakeboat for 700 euro, if you look on donedeal theres loads of bargins on there.

After all the brilliant advice the OP has gotten he surely cant be still thinking of taking that over-sized johnny out into the harbour? I havent been on many boats just lee's and on one occasion it was choppy and i was glad to be in a proper boat with a experienced skipper

Tomorrow Lidl have a 2.9 meter inflatable for €500 and me and a friend are thinking of buying it for fishing round cork harbour.

But what do you guys think?
Do we need to go all out on the safety equipment
VHF radio Flares ..

Life jackets obviously and a smallish outboard.

We are not planning on going too far and obviously only in good summer weather.
