Re: Mackerel reports '09 here.....
I was fishing in Howth today (4th May 2009) and I have caught 3 mackerels. I think it's one of the first mackerels in Howth caught from the shore this year.

Re: Mackerel reports '09 here.....
Howye lads I went fishing with a friend at a rock mark in Co.Waterford both last night and again tonight and we had full strings of Mackeral first cast and every cast I took two dozen for the table and for bait , But there was as many as I wanted there .
I took a pic on a nokia mobile phone I cant manage to upload to my computer , as soon as I have them uploaded I will post them here . I'm sure the mods will verify the date & time of the pic when I eventually get them up here .
Tight lines Craigo .
Also in the pic is a herring , there was 1 got last night and around a half dozen tonight

Location: Black Head
Date: 24th May
Another succesful evening off the rocks. Caught about 25 with all other anglers faring pretty good nearby by the looks of it. A few small pollack caught too.
Don't know if the high spring tide has anything to do with them coming in, but they didn't seem to be lone stragglers. Several triple hauls pulled in.
