Re: Mackerel Reports '11 here...
Skerries seems to have been very good this year.. Is it worth trying even when the tides not all the way in as with the shorter evenings it can be hard to get an evening high tide with calm weather.

got 23 off the rocks below the lighthouse at blackhead co antrim at the weekend. all taken over low water. about 2 hours before high tide there was 3 massive patches of birds about a mile out diving having a feeding frenzy. so there must still be plenty out there in belfast lough

Re: Mackerel Reports '11 here...
Usually mack sliver ,or squid, but any fish will do,dont put on too big a piece, cut ur sliver about 2" long and about 1cm wide ,cut most of the meat away leaving a thin bait to make it move in the tide, add a few glow beads when it starts to get dark

30 casts with feathers resulted in 2 mackerel from the back of bangor pier co down on sunday. big mackerel at that too
. the place is also coming down with 5 inch whiting. i was getting full houses of them on the feathers and when i gutted the mackerel their bellies were full of whiting.
