fishing in galway city today absolutely no macks about! lad down there told me the water temp is way lower then it should be in the bay this time of year, that was the reason the macks are staying deep, looks like were in for another horrible winter

Loads over the clare side from the flats at Ballyvaghaun, finding them at all depths of water but mainly a fair way out. any colour small feather with small hooks. got a bucketful in about an hour over highwater Friday afternoon. I find strong winds keep them off shore. Try casting out and waiting a while then drag the lead slowly along the bottom rather than sweeping up through the water. Most of the fish were staying deep, even the gannets were passing over the top of the shoals.

Just back from 2 weeks in W.Cork.

I'll post a report and some photos later.

Mack were plentiful everywhere we fished : Mizen, Sheepshead and N side of Beara. Usually had enough for bait / BBQ in 15/20 minutes !
Only small on Beara, but some really big ones from Sheepshead ( rocks near Gortnakilla pier).

out at the weekend on both sides of belfast lough (bangor & islandmagee). the macks were plentyfull on saturday and sunday. 25 on saturday and 64 on sunday. and all big fellas too. the only snag was that they were all 100+ yards out. there were tinsel tossers either side of us both days who just could'nt hit the range with 8ft rods and 2oz leads. but the 12ft beachcasters and 4oz leads had success every cast for us :D

Few hours today afternoon at Black Head in Claire- lots of crazy mack bashers and big blank. Never ever again. It is not worth hassle.
BTW: Very few fish around and if someone is excited about those few macks ... he should be in proper time few weeks ago in Galway harbour- just cast 2 meter away and have 4-5 fishes every time without crowds standing on you.

Fishing cork harbour for more winter mackeral bait yesterday(24th sept)
Two miles south of roches point no fish, no one catching any. Must of been 30-40 boats out didnt see anyone catching. Tried inside the harbour, blank. Maybe it was the weather. Two weeks ago u couldn't hit the bottom it was maddness.
Wishlist For 2011

Hi all,
Thanks to all who reported even once this year (on behalf of over 12,000 views!!). The reports, especially blanks are invaluable to those of us who live more than 10 minutes from a banker mack spot.

Is there a week left in the season??

 What's happening around the country  for the last chance saloon - starting with Kinsale, anyone seen fishing/catching on the bridge today?

(For those of you who hate crowds, remember that the tide doesn't just come in at PM, try the equivalent AM and you will have tranquility.)
