I was there as well , stuffed with mackerel and every village idiot for miles around , thought I would fish the break water to avoid the nutters I've seen there before , a safer bet than the other side , but they just cast over you anyway . Devine intervention put two guys next to me who could cast straight and had no bother all night from this side just the pier side not understanding how and where to cast , on a positive note for the anglers of the future lots of dads there letting the kids reel the fish in and the smiles were a mile wide , even a heartless child free cynical old Welshman like me nearly raised a smile , nearly that is !!

Breakwater man myself but thank god I wont be going back for a while, when I started to be bullied by 2 old men it was definitely time to move on
It was nice to see the quieter parts of the breakwater been used by younger anglers away from the maddening crowd.

Went to cobh this evening to show my son how to cast, he has ASD. 2 complete morons decided to pick on a group of teenager's, one person was split open , a golf club was produced and various scuffles broke out, this is not angling.
this is the second occasion that ive brought my kids fishing in Cobh and the second time ive had to leave because of others behaviour, im sick to death of this carry on each year.
All this for one mackerel between 30 people.

People work to look forward to fishing, for those who can't fish stay in work there's nothing better.

I'm going to stop reporting any mackerel catches!..I don't want my local mark to become like what I'm reading here!..it's a quiet mark and always will be if its not publicised whether its catching or not!..
sure, its not raining between the showers!

Re: Shore Mackerel Reports '14 here...
I'm going to float fish for them in a month when the chill in the air will send the fair weather anglers packing until next year again, I will stick to my night sessions for a while and chase a few Pollock during the day.
I have one nice quite spot that produces late in the year, I think mackfish has the right idea.

I think you both have the right idea lads; ahh sure the later ye catch them the more oily they will be!Dave78 wrote:I'm going to float fish for them in a month when the chill in the air will send the fair weather anglers packing until next year again, I will stick to my night sessions for a while and chase a few Pollock during the day.
