I would check that screw and see if it wasnt just muck around it, I know for a fact that all Goldsy's screws are stainless steel.

Sometimes blood and worm can look like rust.

You can check to see if there is any updates on the site....click on Tripods, then click on "see accessories for this item" all the parts are there and it tells you what they will fit.

Hi Tom,

I took the bolt out and it smells of rust. I managed to get the rust off but its still black. Telescopic has the sticker and was bought in a local tackle shop a good few years ago. Everything else has no corrosion and is clean. Its the bolt that the plastic screw that holds the cup holder in place. The screw can still be moved but I have to use a pliers to adjust the cup height. It may well have just been a mistake in the components. I have the super match now if I want to fish the rods up high and I wouldn't be to pushed about fishing them high on the telescopic anyway in case they flopped over.

Donagh,

Thanks for that.

PM me your email address....I will mention it to Goldsy and get back to you...if its a very old model he may have updated the parts...one way or another I will see it gets sorted for you.

I asked a tackle shop owner in the UK if he had anyone comment on screws rusting, his reply was "no, not on the Goldsy rod rests" but he said that Shakespeare had recalled all of their new rod rests because of screws snapping.

This I do know.....Chinese stainless steel screws dont come up to the same standards that the European ones do....Goldsy tested them once and rejected the lot.
