light beach/ bass/ pollack rod?

well the thing is that i also want a light beach rod so somthing heavier than a salmon rod. i have one(greys greyflex bait) anyway. i will prob go for the supercast bass. also i wat to make it as shure as posible that i wont lose a big fish if i hook one.

Wat fly rod do you reccomend because i am a relatively proficent flyfisher, but i only work with light(greys grx 2/3#) and medium(irish trout rod co. 6/7#) fly rods and dont have a clure about who makes a good heavy one.

depends on your budget. ive a scierra blue water which io have no fault with.roughly about 300e, you could try one of the bloke range which are about 450e i think, or if your looking at an unlimited budget try a g loomis cross currtent (around 900e) or a sage xi2( about the same). fished with an xi2 last year and i have fished with no other rod that comes close to it, fly spin or beach. theres a scierra bw2 out at the mo which looks pretty good but havnt a clue what the action is like. if you are buying a rod for pollock look at a 9 or 10 wt. any thing lighter is pushing your luck for pollock.

They do indeed do a version of the poweplay in a fixedspool.

However what about lookin at a conoflex Assassin. They come in a 10ft and 11ft version and conoflex describe them as "Mr Versatile". they reccommend them for spinning, lures,piers and rock fishing but i dont see why you could'nt use the 11ft version of the beach. They were reviewed by julian shambrook a couple of years back in sea angler and the version he had was factory built which was whipped with intermediate eyes so you could use either multiplier or fixedspool.

same as Lumpy, i have the Scierra Blue Water. great rod i must say. if i rememer correctly i paid 200 quid for it (sorry lumpy!)
The rod is typical of that class of rod. fast and powerful but still is forgiving enought not to totally kill the fight of a small pollack or mackeral, lets face it we can't be catching double figure bass ALL the time.
i generally use mine with a fast sinking line and it's well able to double haul and set hooks even with the line fishing real deep with a sag.

a bit of advice though is take your time when you first start fly fishing in the salt. even the tiniest little bad habits that you get away with on lighter tackle on lakes and rivers, will cause your arm to fall off after on hour of chucking a 9 or 10 weight around on a single hand rod. really think about what you are doing. i think salt water fly fishing has really improved my technique for 'normal' fly fshing.
