Are yas having a meet up??twinkle wrote:ok so il look for the drunk making all the noise singing at the bar when i arrive at 8

For SavingBrian... Went to the show some savings to be had, but not major, alot of the reels and lower class rods were cheap... too cheap if you know what I mean, took me some time to hunt up a decent reel and rod set up for my son, missed the cooking which I wanted to see as well but there lots of fly fishing stuff going on, and it was great to meet the different fishers, some of the fresh water equipment came as a real eye opener for me (i don't do fresh water)
All in all if you knew what you were looking for then among the treasure trove there was some diamonds to be had (now I guess i better get the divorce papers ready cause she's gonna ^&^&^ kill me!!

Oh another thing apart from the normal fishing stands there was a stand from the RNLI, Whale and Dolphin Group, and Many more including Bray Sealife, and they brought a small touch tank, with a few shannies and starfish and dogfish ..AND crabs..

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
myself and dave went today.if you were into flyfishing it was paradise.with about 90%of the exhibits .found it hard to get anything for the boat.we did manage to get 2 rods from east coast angling for some of jimc plastics
they were priced at 30 each and done a deal 40 for the 2
.only 1 stall had shamrock rigs ,again they were priced at 299 each, got 10 at 22euro and thats all we bought. we met pat from cork at the door handing out leaflets for charters in cork harbour. he was wearing his daughters sai jacket
easy to spot had a chat with him great to put a face to a name. he told us jimc was giving a demo on soft plastics but we had just missed it.we did catch up with jim[who could not remember seeing me in bewleys the night before
something about falling into bad company that lead him astray]but we did have a good chat with the result being myself and dave are heading to bellevista and some fishing cork style
.overall id say it was worth the visit just for the calibre of anglers and the advice freely given PS[ oh by the way thanks geraldine FOR THE FREE PASSES]

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
Excellent talk by Jim about soft plastic fishing - easily the best bit of the whole day for me.
Shame we didn't get to meet up for a pint or 5 the night before - we really should have thought a bit more about communications!

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
Actully felt very let down with the show this year.
The fly fishing seems to be that main part bacause it was hard to find anything other then fly stuff.
The shore angling seems to be forgotten about. Not even a casting area.....

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
this was my first time at the show. but knew from all the posts from the other shows what to expect.so wasent suprised when we got inside.it was fairly busy when we arrived at 2.30 as listening to others from the past posts the last day is when to pick up a few bargains.which was the case. saw two penn multipliers for 50 euros each said he would do a deal on the two but i have enough reels. they were all willing to deal.yes there was a lot of cheap rigs same price on line.but if you rooted you found a few bits.dave got a wallet filled with 10 shakepere rigs for 10 euros. the celeb angler john wilson gave a demo on yes you guessed it fly fishing.but our own jim c off this site gave from all accounts best demo at the show on soft plastics .we were 5 mins too late .i dont know how much shoregear was on offer as we were shopping fot boat gear.

They Had a couple of nice cheap tripods on Sat but I just missed the last one being sold
, seen them they were wide width apart and collapsable but ya had to really now what you were looking for regarding shore fishin cause a couple of stand didnt display Everything and had some boxes with shore stuff in it, I was looking for rigs for a future boat trip, and upgrading my son's rod, Now Im waitin for the damn weather to cheer up so I can take him out!!

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
dave hit the nail on the head.its reminded him of going to see santa and getting a crappy present
.with all the build up to the show . you expect loads of bargains.if you were a fly man. or . a freshwater dude you would have left a happy chappy .maybe if we send a few suggestions to the organizers to have a chat with the tackle people to balance out the sea gear sections it would make things better and we would all leave happy

Re: Angling Show 11/12th Feb.
they use to have loads of sea gear when it 1st started and each yr it got less and less. have to say by far the worst yr, lucky i wasnt looking for much just a few bits and pieces.
did get 100 cascade swivels for 8yo yos, also i think there was to many stalls advertising fishing trips.

that part of the show i dident mind at all. it was interesting enough. listening to the charter skippers advising you on what species they target. and some of the packages they were offering
