Hi lads, the thread has been running a while but I couldn't help but share my disgust with what happened.

These guys do not deserve the privilege of crewing a boat in any waters. I'm not in the position to afford to go on purely fishing holidays but always try to take a trip where it is available when on a family holiday. This experience underlines the importance of prior research and thank god these brutes are not representative of a lot of decent charter boats such as the Pescamar in lagos in the Algarve. We had two small blues this yearwith them and both fish and the anglers where treated with respect - the fish swam away unharmed and the 4 anglers left happy. I have to thank the tightlines-portugal site for their recommendation. Even though I was not booking through them they were happy to give the recommendation and I would give them my business in the future.

Thanks for raising this important issue and getting the word out there.

Quick update, we got a reply from a marine protection body which is working with sportfishermen on tag and release program for sharks and billfishes and they have taken the issue seriously and address it to concerned authorities :D.
