That kinda thing can put you off fishing but im glad to hear your back out,i always bring a spare reducer with me no matter were i go you have no chance with just your fists (unless your wanderlei silva)if there is a group.

Don't let them stop you! Don't let them win. A 6oz on the end of a bit of builders line would be my favourite ;) fishermans version of a pool ball in a sock , just start swinging. Just realised a spike lead would be better. I understand you had your nephew with you who was your main concern.

I grew up fishing and still am around courtown in wex on my own since about 10 yrs old, have had many similar situations even up to up to last summer! I helped get gear back for a few youg lads who were robbed by some caravaners! I have even probably helped the kids of the lads who bothered me when i was young to catch a few fish by donating a few sub size 2/0 hooks or a few worms on the pier. Any local garda into angling around there?

Jesus Drew sorry to hear that. maybe need to organise a mini meet down the Dee, I could come out of fishing retirement/hibernation/withdrawl.
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

Lads, thanks so much for all the support. It's good to know we've got so many friends who would be willing to stand with us if we needed them. People should be allowed to enjoy their sport without having to endure stuff like that.

Just seeing this now, sorry for your trouble, harmless lads out fishing attacked, thats brutal :cry: Hope they get their comeuppance :evil: . Maybe if the lads off the site email the local council voicing their concern, they might take some notice .They mightnt like the attention it attracts from all over Ireland and maybe police it a bit better :roll:

As the saying goes, where is the world goin to?-- when you cant go fishing off a pier, in this country especially, for fear of having to put up with attacks from useless scumbags. Its like somethin out of a movie.

Icant say on here what I really think about this Drew. ASBO's? Sure they think ASBO's are cool and give them better cred. Na they need a consequence that will actually make them think twice next time, simple as that. Broken nose might get their attention?

2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).
