I'm not so sure about this after reading the post here http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... 12&t=28328Cormdogg wrote:The Trawler men know the location of fish better than any of us make no mistake about that, it's their bread and butter, most of them from fishing families, I doubt they "trawl" the web for where the fish are in fairness.

when i give a mark to a guy, which has been given to me by a mate,i dont expect it to be given to half the country and see pictures of it on a national fishing site.and as for the trawlers,i know of two marks that are gone to sh*t because of posts on this forum!lucky wrote:[Mod Edit: saltydog "post removed at request of poster]doggie3131 wrote:ya,and they got the last f**king mark from me!!........indirectly!

Re: the dubs go west without stefwest
Fair play Alan.
I seen another post not so long ago that had even clearer pic's of the backround and i didn't see that poster get as much grief.
And as for matt hayes he didn't find that mark on his own did he.
Sure why does anyone look at the post's on here if everything has to be kept all hush hush.
I started fishing five years ago and thats all i met on the beaches around the country lads bragging about what they got but refusing to tell you where, how or anything else. Thanks to the likes of BigFish, Stef West and Lucky I now know of a few decent spots and have a chance to get a good catch occassionally!!!!!
I'm sure the rest of you will find tips on secrecy on the site http://www.irish-freemasons.org !!!!!!

Re: the dubs go west without stefwest
Right lads everyone needs to take a step back for a second.....
A couple of points as I see it:
1. The lads were perfectly entitled to fish where ever they like and report on the trip however they like.
2. If you give away a mark then you forfeit any rights to that mark regardless of how you feel about it.
3. If someone has put in hard work sourcing marks and they do not want to disclose where they are fishing that is also their right.
Lads I suggest you sort out any differences over the phone and don't have a mud slinging match on here.....
To the the original poster feel free to continue to post your reports and share your fishing trips with the community on here as you see fit.....

With the greatest of respect "bill and ben the flower pot men" as you put it have done a lot for angling and match angling over the years in Connaught and continue to be of service to the Province...stefwest wrote:well done cous open your mouth tell them it is a free country it must of sliped there minds when bill and ben the flower pot men took matt hayes for a tour of galway

Totally agree, well said...The Trawler men know the location of fish better than any of us make no mistake about that, it's their bread and butter, most of them from fishing families, I doubt they "trawl" the web for where the fish are in fairness.

Re: the dubs go west without stefwest
I would also agree, iv worked on a few different boats and most commercial fisherman spend more time at sea than on dry land and have generations of experence behind them, its their job to know where the fish are, iv actually got some of my best marks from them. i think its more the chancers who want to go out and bag up and fill up the freezer you have to be carefull of, thats why i only give a general location.Kaner wrote:Totally agree, well said...The Trawler men know the location of fish better than any of us make no mistake about that, it's their bread and butter, most of them from fishing families, I doubt they "trawl" the web for where the fish are in fairness.

I agree its fellow anglers who are hell bent on keeping every fish they catch that will rape the sea and clear a productive mark in no time, that made alarm bells ring when I first saw the pics

Absolutely cracking Huss from the Shore welldone, and don't worry about the negative posts your not about to see the Northwestern trawling 70 yds from the shore.
