Well done Al & Dan, congrats on the herring Al, that's another new species for your list and another PB - excellent, your really on a roll. You deserve it with all the miles your clocking up in your car and the travelling your doing. What did Jordan say about that or have you not told him yet You know how he hates not getting out with you fishing. Damn school!

Nice session there guys. Its either a feast or a famine. Headin out on sat myself for a few hours first trip in ages. So looking forward to it. Maybe give the pier a throw.

could be worth a chuck alright. i tried a co. down beach last night. 2 rods over 6 hours and not so much as a crab for my efforts . co antrim is deffo better than co down at the moment

cheers conor. that's what dan reckoned too. he's seen loads caught on the boat on shrimp rigs but that's the first from the shore on bait and not a bad size either

nice report Al and good amount of fish.....i was there on sat from 7pm-10pm had the pier to myself but only 4 tiny fish, loads of nibbles from small whiting and coalies although i think the tides were against me....anyway it was a nice day out if anything.

well at least you gave it a chuck and did'nt blank man . fishing is really hit and miss at the moment our marks are blowing hot and cold in a matter of just 24 hours

thanks don. dan is mainly a boat angler,, but he beat me hands down on the day. we honestly do'nt know how many coalies he ended up with as we honestly lost count around the 20 mark . just a pity jordan missed out as he loves the pucker fishing sessions

thanks dave. we were'nt quite sure what he was when he broke the surface as he was flapping and flipping about all over the place . i was thinking joey mackeral or mabey a sea trout when i saw the silver and blue flashes. but i would have settled for any of them . not the most photogenic of fish thow,,,, bloody thing would'nt stop moving for a pic i tried to explain to him that i was gonna make him an internet star,, but he just was'nt having any of it

cheers brian. one of the great things about sea fishing is that no matter how much fishing you do there is always the chance of catching a new species you just never know whats gonna come in on the end of your hook

thanks drew. yeah co.down beaches are not so productive at the minute... a run up the antrim coast seemed to be the ticket thow . dan might stand a better chance of getting his first conger up there at the moment too . poor lad must have been gutted at you heading up the causeway coast without him and getting that wee starp the other week

you might be onto something there man when our headlights hit in under the surface of the water it was flashing all sorts of blues and silver colours really amazing..... but i did learn one lesson. they are scaley wee fish and the scales stick to everything mackeral have nothing on them . i'm still finding scales around the boot and back seats of the motor. must have got some on the rod or something

who,,, me,,, i'll take the same line as an offical CIA statment "admitt nothing and deny everything" . herring was a big surprise, it was like a perfectly formed mineature tarpon. but i would'nt want to end up catching too many of them in a session. those scales fall off on the slightest touch and stick to everything like glue. i was down there again last night and was telling 2 guys about the herring and i think they thought i was pulling their leg , but that harbour can throw up the odd unexpected fish every so often

cheers stevie, i got my first one of 2010 back in january up there you just never know whats gonna show up on that beach and pier. some real odd fish being caught at times when they're not supposed to be about . i remember getting a mack from donaghadee harbour in january, ballan wrasse from the same spot on new years day and now the plaice and herring . just goes to show you should never discount what might be out there regardless of what time of year it is
