you are very much mistaken if you think i would kill it........ if i couldn`t get it ashore quickly then i would release it..

you seem to have this mad idea that all specimen hunters are mindless killing machines,as you say "just for a piece of paper"
what a load of crap.... speci hunters do as much as anyone to ensure the future of our sport.

if a fish is killed and brought ashore to be weighed then put to good use(eaten) then i have no problem.thats the anglers choice...
but if its dumped and left to rot then i would be disgusted...
why dont you ask some people i know and ask how many fish i`ve killed in my 22 years fishing,to be eaten,(or for any other reason) maybe then you can have your opinion on whether i`d kill such a fish....

the IFSC may be still living in the past but so are you with your ideas that all speci hunters kill fish for glory and paper.
the IFSC are making an effort to change and willing to listen to anglers and change their ways.are you????

first things first, fair play to mr love, thats a fish of a lifetime, and he did what he felt was right and released it.now i have fished with an specimen hunter that will go out with the intention of targeting specimen fish.and if he has to kill it to claim the record,he will.I also fish with a mate that put back a pontential record rockling because he would HAVE to kill it for the record and he was not prepared too, this week i saw three potential specimen fish killed, not for the records but because they were tasty fish and the anglers wanted them to eat,so,i think it comes down to this, let each angler do what he thinks is right for him,and respect that each of us have different thoughts and ideas on the way we fish, and those thoughts and ideas should be respected by other anglers.all the anglers that are mentioned above i have great respect for, most are better fishermen than i am,some are better human beings than me,and there is no way that i would disrespect them by slagging there ideals, privately or publicly.

well said noel, every angler should be able to do what is right for him and not be jumped on by others for the choice he made

the last 2 post are spot on 8)

doggie3131 tell your mate that the rules on killing a rockling(or most fish these days) have been changed.good photos will do for IDing the fish without sending the dead fish for identification.
check out their website,if you haven`t already http://www.irish-trophy-fish.com/

it still states that the body should be forwarded, but between us we`ve claimed 6 or 7 specimen 3 beards without killing any...
if your mate catches that biggie again he wont have to miss out
