cheers lads, if we had gone bass fishing we would have been useing 2/0 or 3/0 hooks on peeler crab and sand eel baits. who would have thought they would have gone for 3 inch ragworm on size 4 hooks     if you told someone that was going to be your rig and bait of choice you'd be laughed at :? :? :? :? :? and you certinly would'nt have gone up the antrim coast as a mark expecting to find them :? :? :? :? the more we fish, the more i'm amazed at what kinds of fish turn up in the most unlikely places. and it was up to -5 last night :?: :?: :?: :?: . i have always associated bass with the south coast and warmer waters. i still can't get my head around it :| :| :| :| :| . and dan, jordan got the first one just as we lost the last of the light. go figure :| :| :| :|. i think our avatar will soon be changing from jordans wrasse to jordans bass

You never know - a couple of months ago I made up a rig to target small turbot with a size 6 hook. Baited it with a thin strip of mackerel and first cast got a 2.5 lb bass. A few weeks later I was fishing off a rock mark and was just getting dogfish, took out that same rig hoping to get a mini-species of some kind - anything other than dogfish - and ended up with three bass up to 4 lb within half an hour all taken on the size 6 hook

Thats the great thing about fishing - the unexpected.

Well done again, excellent fishing.

that would'nt have been harry by any chance? i was talking to him about that run when i collected the rag for our trip. i havent been in the shop yet, but when i do call in i bet he grills me about our session

i'm way ahead of ya kstaff. we keep a diary that we take with us everywhere to document our catches. initally it was just to keep count of what we catch and how many we catch, but over the last 6 months i record tide states weather conditions and moon phases. i gonna keep them so in years to come i can figure out what the common donominators are at certin locations regarding species movements and what conditions certin species favour. i'm hopeing they will become our fish bible

i know, it's mad. we've had all sorts of odd things take stuff they're not supposed to. on my last trip to donaghadee i had a coalie take an 8 inch calamary on a 6/0 pennel rig intended for big dogs and huss      the cheeky wee git managed to wolf down the bait to the top hook   . when i laid him beside the baited rig they were near the same size
