Darren,,
yes henry has showed me some of your frozen Bait ,very cool,, a lot of time and obvious effort involved,,and perfect when thawed,,
i would say tanking is the way forward for you darren it makes life so much easier the crabs will hold in the tank and totally shed at that point i freeze i very rarely manual peel the tank does the work,,

Thanks for all the replys and info
Heres just some furhter details on my situation,
I put out 12 tyres this saturday and i checked them on sunday and there were between 4 and 8 crabs in each tyre and none were peelers from what i could see, so ..............

what do i do with the crab I found in the tyers,

- do I drop them back into the tyers and hope they will start peeling at some stage ?
- do I take them out of the tyers and leave them back in the sea ?
- do i take them home and try and force them to peel (if so how do i do that ?)
or what else do i do ?

yep, its currently in the 120 tank as its cycling, wasnt going to to spend the money on the small set up i had previous. the crabs are grand but for the most of them, bar two peeling is the last thing on their mind.

catcher, just leave them in the water/ sand around your tyres, they will find their own way back into them if they want to be there

what you mean its in while its cycling you dont need to cycle the tank with it and it doesnt ork proper unless you stcok the tank the same time you put the organic in,

i recon a few test with it are worth doing

just empty the water out and start again from scratch ,,,, ask dim or turkish about it they be the best 2 to ask about it,, or water quality,,, using the organic method ive seen some impresive results from it in the art of keeping cold water marines

Graham, mabey I'm not taking crab that I should be taken.

If I twist the last segment and there is not a new fleshy leg underneat I just gently place it back amongst the weed.

catcher,
if they were small green crabs which i suspect they are ,normally this time of year the larger males are going and rarely get more than one crab in a tyre mabey two if your lucky,,,chuck out the small green ones
you have just put some tyres down ,now let the journey begin it takes a long time to read nature,,
john,
if you get a gossamer leg ,even just a hint take the crab when you get it home dont fridge it,this causes reversal most times, either tank it ,keep it moist and well watered between damp towels in around 12 degrees temp ,that should do the trick
