We went down yesterday ...arrived at 12.00pm 2 Hours after low water. When I say the action was non stop until 4.30pm I jest you not :D .
My very first cast produced a lovely codling of 6lbs.All the fish caught were taking Lug & Mussel apart from two who took crab,One even coughed up a whiting half the size of himself !!A lot of the codling were very white and I'd say they are just in from the Sea.In the finish we had 17Codling from 2lbs - 61/2 Lbs and 3 small whiting.Dinner for me today is Fresh Cod and chips !!

fish
well lads very surprized good catch of cod had there and not a word from any one if they where bass they would be murder with that amount of that fish kept.find it very hypacrital if people see that as alright and if it was bass kick up.fish stocks are in a bad state its up to us as well as trawlermen to save our sport.take waht you can eat and not what you catch a pair of fish should be enough,we have good bass laws maybe these laws should be brought in for all fish size limits and amounts??

it was a good catch and all as i said - didnt want to comment on the take as it leads to the enevitable debate (again) - but i would like the think at least the fish will be used - if they are all taken
god knows the cod are only begining to get back
dont think its good enough to tell someone to give it up eoin

another debate to nowhere as usual KK
grand if you take a few to eat - once in a while
but if you hammer 20 out each day while the run is on - with loads of others on the bank with you
do you want to be the one left there in a few years time scratching your head after another blank
but as i said good results and i know nothing of the circumstances involved - and a trawler is far worse in my opinion
now KK theres a bit to go on!

Cod
Have to agree with ye barry! well said! It just seems that some people think depletion in fish stocks is a fairy tale and that they can continue to indiscriminently kill what ever they catch. Lets be honest when the cod are thick in the river it takes very little skill to catch them, I know i grew up on the river and cut my teeth cod fishing. I find pictures of dead fish like the ones posted just a bit dissapointing and pointless. I personally was dreading some one posting the fact the cod where in the river as I knew what would happen! So good point Barry and fair play to you, cod are under the same pressure as bass if not even greater, so how bout putting a few back!!!!!
