Sorry for sounding stupid guys but what is a stripping basket for???
Catches for 2012: Pollock, Mackerel, Dogfish, Sea Trout, Ballen Wrasse

when you fly fish you have to pull line off the reel in order to cast, the line then falls to the ground,if wading the line will land in the sea resulting in tangles so the basket prevents this.

Eric pretty much got it. Also because the line is kept in neat loops in the basket it helps when casting as well as it doesnt tangle when the line it going through the rings on the rod.

cheers guys never had a go at fly fishing always thought of it as hard to get the hang of. BUT if it means a chance of bagging some more fishies then i may be tempted to have a bash
