Think that was actually fishing with bow and arrow - the arrow being attached to a line, once you've shot the fish you just pull in the line. Different from spear fishing in that the projectile is fired from above the water I suppose, but same principle. The fact that they were fishing in freshwater/tidal water was why it was illegal - only legal method allowed in FW is rod and line
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
