you can fish for Tope from them and it is one of the most exciting things I've ever done!

though unlike Tope I've yet to have one in side the yak.Use barbless hooks and unhook at side of yak--great fun!

Excellent Richi,

Have you or an of the other lads ever put together a species list of fish tha have been caught from a Yak?

Might be an Idea to show all you can catch before they go to the Main Course TOPE Umm Umm!

Yes Greywulff,I competed in a year's species hunt on another forum last year and it's running this year too,came second last year.The gent that won had 34 species!

Extreme Yakfishing................ Kayak: Flame Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Angler
2006 species---bass(to 70cm),garfish,bull huss,pollack,pouting,poor cod,mackerel,bream,weever fish,wrasse,dogfish,tope(8),red gurnard,tub gurnard,sea scorpion,Conger Eel(9),lobster,Common Smoothound,Starry Smoothound,Octapus,Silver Eel,3 Bearded Rockling,Thornback Ray,Whiting,Cod,Flounder.......

2007 aims---10 conger,10 tope,5x5lb+ bass and one other which will remain nameless....

2007 species---bass,whiting(PB 45cms),dogfish,starry smoothound,pouting,conger(1),ballan wrasse(PB),black bream(PB).spider crab,starfish,bull huss(PB),tope(1)(PB),Greater Weaver,Silver Eel.........

Have a look out for a new supplier in west cork.
Will have a big range of sit on tops.
Try typing in bantry bay canoes and see what you get.

what kind of money are you lookin at to get started?

Depends on a lot of things daithi but your surely looking at around €1000 to get a yak, paddle, some safety gear ie; PFD, wetsuit, cag.

Daithi,
A perception Freedom Angler costs €840 and paddles start at €45
The Malibu Mini X costs €649, shorter boat but also very stable.
