Surprised by this, thought they were reliable. Personally have had absolutely no probs dealing with Veals or Spotty Dog tackle. Won't be looking too close at Gerry's deals in future.

use ebay.........and if there are items not listed, you can ask the suppliers via the question facility if they can get you what you are looking for...you are protected with PayPal and the feedback system also........i would never use mail order again......I have only ever been let down....ebay rocks!

AT LAST! A WAY TO SORT THIS OUT! Dear Mark one of my customers was good enough to pass this on to me and at last enable me to contact you, WE HAVE TRIED AND LEFT A MESSAGE WITH a Mrs Dorney who for some reason unkown to me ordered your goods on your behalf? so for a while we were looking for a Mark Madden on our data base to sort out your order problems, so hope this will get to you!
As you would hope we do not like this sort of publicity and will do all I can to sort out your problems, and are willing to offer a FREE £100 voucher to spend on anything you wish, which should cover the £ I believe you are down.
Mark although you are obviously frustrated with us and I can understand why this has been a contact problem for us and we have tried on numerous occasions to contact you but have faild for variing reasons, I will endeavour to get to the bottom of this and if you would like to contact me personally via phone or e-mail I will sort this out,
We can I assure you we are supplying 1000s of happy anglers in Ireland and it is my only wish to if we got it wrong this time no matter how we arrived at this point, to hold our hands up and get it right now even if a little late.
Like I have said there was a address and name problem here which I hope we can now update. Call or e-mail me yours sincerly Gerry.

Mark Madden wrote:I was looking at some of the write ups on MAC Tackle and thier service and I thought that I would mention my experience or ORDEAL with mail order!!
I placed an order with Gerry's of Morecambe at the end of the summer last year, worth over a thousand euro (over 700pound sterling at the time) and he let me down big time.. I received a part order and two further part orders. .I was left short over 100euros worth of tackle, he sent cheap brands and charged top brand prices,he left items off the list and put cheap junk in it's place and I ended up dealing with 3 different individuals and in the end they just ignored that I even placed an order with them!!
I was talking to two other prominent anglers on the 'scene' and their reaction was "oh no, you didn't place an order with them!!!"
I have made numerous calls, sent emails, and a registered letter to Gerry's explaining my situation and grievances and I havn't had 1 reply!!. . The reaction that I have gotten from them sc**bags is, "what are you going to do about it???" ( because I'm in a different country). I even emailed Mel Russ of Sea Angler to ask him for help and how a "business" like Gerry's can treat customers like this and be allowed to take out 4to6 page advertisements in his magazine every month, but he hasn't replied either!
I have be threatening since last year to make it known to anglers how Gerry's treats his customers, once they get your cash, they're gone! I have heard many horror stories now of how Irish anglers have been screwed by some U.K. based mail order tackle services. I WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT I AM NOT CONDEMNING ALL U.K. MAIL ORDER TACKLE SERVICES, but just be aware of places like Gerry's.
I had my pants taken down by Gerry's and I wouldn't like to see any other anglers have the same thing happen to them, whether they are Irish or not.

Gerry,
I have sent you a private message with my contact details again, if you would like to contact me and I can finally get to talk to you. Thanks.

Go to the top of the page, under Sea Angling Ireland, there's a list of choices and in it you will see that in there it says "you have 1 new message" and click on it.

After 9 months, I have spoken to Gerry himself ( he seems keen to put things right ) and we are in the process of rectifying the situation. Watch this space. . .

I'm glad you have managed to sort your issues with Gerry directly. :D As I said I have no problems with using him and infact I do recommend him to all my fishing buddies for his service which I feel is second to none..... 8) His prices are are competitive and if you see an item that you want that is advertised cheaper elsewhere if you contact him 99.9% he will match or better it, which you couldn't fault. I'm not saying these things to get anything free from him I feel it's only fair to hear both sides of the coin before I make my decision.

I have no problem with Gerrys and will continue to use them for a long, long time.

When you actually hear the issue from both sides it stands to reason that Gerry would have trouble contacting Mark aka Mrs Dorney in any shape or form. My God, any company would have trouble getting back to you under those circumstances.

I feel it would be fair to make a public apology when your issues are sorted Mark especially under these circumstances under a new heading or edit your heading for this posting to be fair. Any new person looking at this will jump to the wrong conclusion even before they read the full thread.

Personally the £100 Gerry's is sending you I feel is more than generous! It could have been a solicitors letter you could have received instead for loss of face and business due to the mix up in names!!!

As I said before in my last posting anyone can make a mistake, it's nearly always the 1 bad thing people in general like to talk about but they quickly forget the 10 good things that happened before.

Nuff said

Again I'm glad it had the chance to get sorted once and for all. :D

Just to let you know, it wasn't me who contacted Gerrys about this posting

To Norfolk and Goode, you don't know the whole story, so for you to put a post like that is incorrect. . . when I placed the order I used my fiance's credit card, which Gerry's were aware of, and any time that I contacted them, I quoted (1)the order number, (2)the card holders name and (3) my name, so there is still no excuse. . so unless you know the full story. . don't go jumping to your own conclusion and broadcasting it!. .as I said before, my name is there for everyone to see too. . .
The matter is now in the process of being dealt with finally, so as Gerry said," draw a line in the sand and move on". . . and I'm saying, "don't try to be the one with the last righteous say".

Mark, when we look at what you have written and then what Gerry has come back with as his reply then..........................I can work things out for myself, rightly or wrongly  If you are saying that "I'm trying to be the one with the last righteous say" well your entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I'll stand by what I wrote about Gerrys as you will stand by what you've wrote, that's our choices.

As long as you are finally getting your tackle sorted then that's all you need to worry about and an extra handshake into the bargain. 8)

As Peacockelot stated about Gerry's kind offer "now that's service" 8)

Nuff said, line drawn, case closed

Good luck

Steve

Enough said lads, before this goes any further. We have Marks complaint and we have Gerrys response, lets all leave it at that for the time being.

Im sure the matter will be dealt with now. If its not, then feel free to post again Mark and let us know. There are 2 sides to every story and both have had their say so lets leave it at that and as mentioned above draw a line in the sand and move on. Perhaps anyone else with issues can contact Gerry himself personally first too.
