"Never get a birdnest" Theres an eception on that.If ur fixspool have a nice line lay, then u wont have a birdie using braid,if not,ul find ur self in trouble when a bunch of tangling braid trying to get of ur spool at the same time. That only applies to braid most of the time tho.
Its easily to twist your line using fixspool, even when they have a roller at the bail arm due to the nature of how in wind the line to the spool.
Avet is a multi, and i think the maintenance is the esiest.Just tighten ur drag, put in a bucket of fresh water and crank, wipe it and let it dry.Easy as A,B,C.....Same as Van Staal n Zee Baas....which is tuff as a tank fixspool....
Theres no problem using braid on multi, just use a properly design braid for multi....Daiwa produce the Saltiga Surf Braid for their saltiga surf multi....
If ur efficent enuff with ur multi....stick to it on any occasion....if not bring your fixspool along.....both have their pro and cont......use a correct tool on the right place at the right time....just my 2 cents....cheers....
fixed spools will take over multipliers?!

Well said Joe.
There is many things that can go wrong and bugger a fixed spool.....bale arm engaging mid cast is a crack off 99/100, line jammed under the spool is another, that said I find I use both to suit what I consider the right time and place.
This I will say though....to say that multipliers haven't moved on in the last 30 years.....I don't agree one bit.
Like anything....you only get what you pay for....couple of years ago I was involved in the development of a fixed spool reel....some of the guys on this forum have them, one is in this thread  at times they can be idiot proof....at other the slightest little part not right can make them useless.....not quite as user friendly as some would think IMHO 8)

For 90% of my fishing I use a multiplier, it just feels so much better balanced, to me it makes a bit of a mockery of spending a fortune on the latest lightweight Bass rod or beachcaster and then hanging a heavy fixed spool on it with a centre of gravity which is literally inches away from the blank :?
I am not saying that I dont use fixed spools - I do but I just don't enjoy using them as much for the reason stated above.

Even a bad days fishing is better than working.
