Lots in Oysterhaven yesterday evening.

Beautiful spot..sheltered, warm, clear water teeming with sprats. A large bass swam straight past me on the rocks...had to do a double take as I initially thought it was just a mullet.

Went to Rostoonstown last night the place was alive with macks. I got down around 6.30 and there was a huge shoal breaking up to the right of the gap, they were still there at 8.00, every man woman child had dozens going home.

5 mackrel off Cahore Pier (Co. Wexford) last night, in the bay to the left of the pier strangely enough...

10 tonight (Sunday) straight off the pier in Kilmore Quay.

Baiting peeler crab and plugging for bass at both venues, not so much as a sniff :cry: .....

Hello,
Anyone who's interested in this thread please don't give up yet.
I expect that once the weather breaks in Sep then the large shoals of macks from shore are gone.
I just saw a forecast for a settled spell of weather into next week, it would be great to know if the macks will be available in numbers 'till the weather breaks again.
More macks please!!

The place was carpeted with them two weeks ago, no sign of anything this evening :( Is it all over, or are they shoaling somewhere??

Mackeral Reports

The unsettled weather at the weekend seems to have scattered them. Had only 1 yesterday in a 1.5 hour period concentrating on getting bait.

Saturday 6th October

Tinnebearna, kilmuckridge, Co. Wexford.
@ 4th hour of Ebb tide, 7pm;

Never saw such a shoal of mackrel in all my life - not even in Rostoonstown.
Lasted for at least 90 mins, Seagulls had a ball. Macks were nearly washing up on beach. 600 yards to the RIGHT of the stream....
Beach was littered with TINY little fish afterwards, obviously what they were feeding on. Water was boiling like a kettle!.
