Where about in ringaskiddy? I'm thinking of heading to Cobh this afternoon from about 3:30, but if they are in ringaskiddy it will save me trip all the way to Cobh

Re: Shore Mackerel Reports '14 here...
Sea angler mag started a thread on their Facebook page similar to this one it looks like the mackerel situation is the same as here reports of sporadic catches but no consistency.
I noticed there are a load of jelly fish everywhere I've been, correct me im wrong but don't they show when the temperature of the water rises, I always thought that the same applies to mackerel and they leave as the sea cools around sept/oct . Last year mackerel were being caught right up to December.
Has anyone tried Helvick near dungarvan I was in Ardmore yesterday and nothing was happening , one of the locals told me to try Helvick.

Re: Shore Mackerel Reports '14 here...
One thing the guys in Swansea are saying might be worth a bit thought and give a glimmer of hope . The arrival of the mackerel has also shown a big rise in the number of bass being caught , lots by free lining a joey back down into the shoal . They are also saying a large increase in school bass being caught which is good for the future . The mackerel were at least a month late arriving in Swansea so it might just be the same here . Not sure but a bit of a positive note
