It's still available (only just). I thought Derek Evans did a superb job. The other two reps from Angling were poor and hung themselves on the conservation front by basically saying there was nothing wrong with catching 250 mackerel and so on, and how would it be policed. This misses the whole point.

However, I have been down in Leinster House talking with different politicians about this, so expect some traction on this soon. As usual it's left down to the individuals to actually drive this one politically. So you can expect some reach out to anglers soon.

Thank God for those individual anglers - the dissidents - kicking against the pricks.

Hi all, just a brief note on this for your info. The matter was discussed at a closed session of FIPS-M during the CIPS congress in Dresden recently. The only people invited to be present at the meeting were members of Angling Federations from within the E U. The President of CIPS a Frenchman said his French Federation were in favour of the proposed move and he "implied" that the board of CIPS had been in negotiation or consultation with EU. We think he was going to try to rush a vote on the issue however, Chris Clarke, Angling Trust, Tom Lillis and Brian Cooke for I.F.S.A. spoke against the issue. We had done our homework and had enough on our side for him not to put it to a vote, as he said he did not want to "burn any bridges." The matter will be given our full attention and nothing will be agreed to until we have all the cards on the table and all documents have been translated properly. The IFSA together with the Angling Council of Ireland and our affilliates will be working on this, especially through our full time rep in Brussels with European Anglers Alliance.

I saw a comment somewhere on the site about joining a club and supporting IFSA and others, please join a club we need the money to fight these issues, its not as easy as blowing off steam on a web site, we need to bring the fight to where it will be heard and that does not come cheap no matter what some people think. Sorry I dont have enough time at the moment to fill in more details but I have to make up the time at work that I took off to go to Dresden.

well lads

this is what the fishing men/women had to deal since we joined the EU all them years ago every year quotas have been cut and changed to suit the larger countries where the Irish fishing fleet have been forced to dump perfect by catch and in certain cases the Irish quotas is less than 30% from of the total in there own waters

noting will surprise with the total shite in Brussels and voting NO wont change a thing
