What water temp is best for the various species ?

I know this is a how long is a piece of string question but I'm sure there is enough experience on this forum to come up with some basic guidelines .
I don't think we need be concerned about the maximum temp at which fish will feed
How about the minimum temp at which there is a realistic chance of catching without specialist gear or skills ?
And the best temp , all else being equal ?
Personally I am most interested in mackerel , pollack , cod and the other reasonably common edible species . ( I have to put something on the table to contribute towards the cost of fuel these days )

I know that for blue shark fishing you need a surface water temp of 14+, with 16 being the optimum temperature. I don't know about water temp for the species you have listed, but I presume you'll be fishing off Sligo and I guess the mackeral will start to show up at the end of April and should be there till Oct. I don't think water temp is that relevant if you're fishing deepish water, say 80ft+, as the temp at the bottom will probably be fairly stable throughout the year. You should be able to pick up some cod, pollack, coalfish, whiting, haddock, ling etc in every month of the year in this deeper water, although the summer and Autumn months will be best. I hope this is of some help to you.
