Report: Decided to dust off the gear and give Spiddal pier a try. Got there at about 4 0' clock hoping to get a decent size conger or anything really. Didn't expect too much more just to get back into the swing of things. Had 3 rods:one for conger Pulley 8/0,one out for dogs or huss pulley 1/0 as well as spinning for a few pollack. First two casts with the conger rod got two trap congers around 3 pound mark.
Nothing happening out further or spinning but got a noticeably bigger bite on the conger rod and pulled up my PB conger(caught on whole Mack fillet) not massive but I was happy out! Didnt have a net or gaff and i was using a pulley(Which in hind sight amn't sure was the right rig choice) so couldn't get him up on the pier so i had to ask a fella i met down there to hold onto the rod as I went down onto a boat to land the fish. Didnt get to weigh it but i reckon it was around the ten pund mark Popped out another conger bait and pulled up another conger at about 4-5 pound.
Chucked out a 3 hook flapper for a few casts and reeled in a little flounder right before i left for home. All in all great to be back fishing and it is safe to say i am hooked again (pun very much intended).
