Rod tip eye damage prevention

When fishing in the dark and reeling in line how can you see and know when your coming to the swivel attatched to the end of shockline to start of my rig so the swivel doesnt get caught in the rod tip eye and do damage.Dont want to use a strong headlight to see because it would be beaming into the water possibly spooking fish,thanks..

macka do u not feel ur shockleader knot making a wee thud.well if u feel this u know ur swivel isnt to far away.reel slow andmaybe lift ur rod a wee touch so u become aware of ur rig and weight and ur rigs position.its all awareness

i just stick on a big enough bead above the clip, so nothing can get jammed in the top eye...
i would only use this for night fishing.

SPR,my shock leader knot is that small i dont feel it,I WISH   also having to bring the tackle in over rocks that i,m trying to clear i have to spring the rod up trying to stop hooks, weight etc from snagging. Its ok in the daytime but again nightime is a challange, was thinking of attatching a small snap chemical light to the swivel because i would surely see it then because i,m pretty lampy in the dark
Also found with the chem lights if you put them in the freezer at the end of your nights fishing they last weeks, have one in the freezer i forgot about from 2 months ago and found and it looked dull but when i took it out the lumi green glow came right back again ..

Fishermannum1,was thinking about using a bigger bead than the size of the rod tip eye too ,great minds hey :)

I usually find a coloured shock leader better to differentiate from main line in the dark, even with a weak headlight a coloured shock will stand out a bit better than a clear one, even grey. Red and orange are ideal as long as you use a different coloured main line.

if you use a multiplier, its easy enough to feel the shock knot as you guide it over the spool, and the line has a different feel to it than main line too.
with fixed spool it is harder to feel for the knot as it goes through the rods eyes all right (unless you make the know nice and big  )

I tie a medium elastic band immediately above the swivel, with "wings" sticking out a little bit. Soft enough not to foul on rocks weed etc but registers when you reach the tip ring. As said above, only for night fishing.

Just place a plastic bead above the swivel.
