Xlayer Originals

Does anybody have any idea where to source the original Xlayers?(The originals have the rattle in the tail and are softer material) A mate asked me to try and source them online and after much searching to say they are rare is an understatement! southside or Henrys worth a look

Southside had some last time I was in there, but hart do a copy called "gummy worm" with a rattle in the tail, very good lure at a fraction of the cost.

Southside and Henrys both stock the newer version of the lure (Megabass Vios Super X Layer Ayu) but if you look closely at the lure the rattle is further up the body of the lure and the new material is tougher and apparently less life like than previous batches of the lure. Wouldn't be that picky now myself but the fella I'm posting on behalf of is mad to get his hands on some of the originals.

I'd say the guy you are posting for must have OCD or something if he thinks these little differences will make the difference ( if they are so) in fish catching terms.
On the Hart - the Absolut Worm is actually softer than the xlayer. The rattle can be pressed up its arse quite far

There's no doubt about it, when it comes to bass lures he has more than a touch of OCD I don't think it has stopped him buying the new ones but wants to get some of the old stock as it was one of his favourite lures. If you scroll down to the bottom of that blog link I posted above you can see how someone who's very particular about there lures might find fault. Nah I just came across that blog when I was trolling the net for info last night but Id say your right about taking advice from someone who wouldn't bother with sp's for bass

Tim if your friend believes that the purple start buttons on crashed alien spaceships can catch him bass then do your best to find them guy. Sometimes (actually) a lot of the time some people need to be right in their 'minds' in order to catch fish I guess it's a confidence thing.

A street gang of myopic hungry bass charging up or down an estuary don't stop and calibrate the positioning or sonic frequency of glass beads relative to horshoe bends before deciding to eat!

jim you are dead right about rapalajoe he was an encyclopedia of information when it came to lure fishing, i personaly blame him for all of this soft plastic craze that is sweeping this little place of ours

Joe had genuine experience and certainly opened that box!

What bothers me sometimes is the opinion expressed by some that they were or are pioneers in the subject and leverage that 'unlearned' information to create impressions of long term expertise and experience.

There are several classic cases of this in existence today!

would you beleive me jim if i told you i only met another one of these experts about 2 hours ago and he was able to tell me every thing about the years of soft lure fishing experiance he had,i heard enough after about 15 minutes.if there is not an athleat in a tracksuit on every corner in dublin there is sure to be a sp/lure expert instead

Henry was getting some mild flack on a UK based forum.
The gist was that his blog was more about advertising etc.. never see a bad review etc..etc...

That was his reply in his blog - As he says, he is locked out of the same forum.

It is hard to keep everybody happy!

I'd say he cops a lot of flak Jim. Shame, he has an excellent blog, clearly loves to fish and doesn't ever set himself out to be an 'expert'. Too easy to criticise hiding behind a computer screen these days.
