St. Johns point advice

Fri Feb 08, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi Folks,
Going to hopefully visit St. Johns point tomorrow and do some lure fishing (metals, plugs, SP's). Just wondering if anyone can pass on any advice - i hate going to a new area totally blind.
Thanks a million,
Skateboy.

Don't know the area SB, but I expect you'd catch enough Pollack. Mind you, best to bring a selection of colours. Orange/Green/Silver/Blue.
Was fishing out at Howth a while ago using viva parades. My black/silver one was ignored. My nephews Orange/Yellow one was being hammered at each retrieve.

It's was at least 6 years ago during the summer, 28 ballan wrasse on fresh lug. We could of got more but we ran out of lug. We might of had a pollock or 2 but I can't remember tbh. As I said I don't know it at all I was taken down by a friend and I don't even remember where it was on the point.

st.john's mostly hard so lure's is the way to go should be some large pollock and the cod that we all hear of but never see.dont bother the main beach its useless most of the time, head out to the southern corner thats seems to be the place for lure's or bottom
tight lines
